Hello! Sorry that updating's been slow. I'm now well into my third semester at CCS, and busy as ever. I just got back from attending the Ottawa International Animation Festival, which was fantastic and I got the opportunity to talk to some really incredible and respected members of the animation industry. Not to mention I had a blast hanging out with my best friend Jared Hart, and saw some truly inspiring films. Its filled me with a drive to get to work on my own stuff.
But also! I've officially launched my etsy store! And it's about time. There's three listings in the shop right now, but hopefully I'll have the time to get more up there. Expect to see original art and buttons there as well!
A mini galley of my shop can be seen in the side bar, but you can also find it at katezila.etsy.com. Please, check it out and tell me what you think!

Here Be Monsters
I'm now the proud owner of the CS3 Production Suite. Which means I finally get to stop using absolutely ancient software. HURRAH! And while I'm taking a break from the Ambrosia project, I am NOT taking a break from art!
So to celebrate I cracked open Flash and doodled out some Worry Monster concepts. Enjoy.

Done Dooooooooone Done Done Done Dooooooooone
Done Done Dooooooooone
Thats the song I sing when I finnish things I've spent a lot of time on.
Like Charlie's Ref Sheet.

I FEEL SO ACCOMPLISHED. *flop*
I'm really happy with the coloring style I've been working with. Its something I've wanted to try for a long time and it seems like a perfect fit.
Here's a closer view of the center illustration.

And for people who love process stuff,
The original sketch. The first lines. And the flat colors, before rendering. Hooooow fascinating.
Three more to go.

Sneek-A-Peek
Guess what my new project is?
And guess who ended up pulling an all nighter due to an action script obsession. Ooooh yeah. I need something fun an happy to jump to between reference sheets and commission work. :)
I seem to be drawing a lot of Charlie as of late. Probably cause he's so happy, and drawing him always seems to cheer me up to. My imaginary characters have infectious personalities. Awesome.
Also, here's the main drawing I'm using in Charlie's ref. Its the only one I'm really happy with yet. Rory's wardrobe sucks, and Joss's face looks funny.

Sketches and Vespas

So my scanner is having major issues working with my sister's PC, but it now works as good as new on my Mac! The whole thing is very confusing. The good news it though, I still have a scanner.
I've been working really hard lately on tightening my character designs and building consistency when I draw them, so that when I do their reference sheets, they'll be exactly what I want. But all this drawing caused my brain to explode and I somehow ended up with a reference sheet for Morgan and Joss's vespa. Trudy will mess you up man.
Yeah, I need less free time. Later kids!

Moar Kaki Plz

Hi Charlie! Who's your friend?
Sorry, you'll probably see a lot of oekakis, since they're simple and faster and more polished (sometimes) than pencil sketches. That and my scanner's on the fritz.
If anyone wants to know more about a character I draw, they are welcome to ask questions in the comments. :)

I < 3 Oekaki

^I drew the last one with a touch pad. It was not fun^
I love oekakis! An Oekaki is an online drawing board with simple online art programs that are free to use! The resolution is low, but there awesome for keeping yourself in practice and doodling. :)
In other news, I was working on a layout for this place, but the css exploded my brain. I havent done coding in a loooong time, and probably not as intensive as this. BUT! I am determined! So hopefully I can find some useful tools to help me figure it out.
